Known as Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) this treatment allows for the removal of basal cell carcinomas with little to no scarring. It uses cream which is applied to the skin to make cancer cells sensitive to light, meaning that when the treated area is exposed to a specific light source, the cancer cells can be destroyed. This pioneering treatment has been used to treat neck and mouth cancers and other sun-related skin damage.
